Summer Is for Swimming!

What do you do once you’ve checked swim lessons off your summer list?  We believe learning to swim is a long-term commitment, a skill worth investing in beyond your typical May or June "tune up" lessons. This is why Crawfish Aquatics' sister company, Crawfish Swim School, teaches swimming lessons year-round and why Crawfish Aquatics runs their developmental swim team groups all year long. Crawfish Aquatics narrows down swimmer groupings by age, skill, desired time commitment and goals. It’s all about developing a child from where they are toward foundational skills that will serve them as long as they stay in the sport. And you don't have to "only swim" to have success in the sport! Gone are the days where to be a swimmer you must commit to swimming two-a-days starting at age 12. Despite being involved in other activities and sports, kids are still seeing success at all levels of the program. This year Crawfish Aquatics finished first in the 8 & Under, 12 & Under and 13 & Older State Championship meets.

Summer is a great time to try out swimming beyond lessons or even a neighborhood swim team. Crawfish Aquatics runs a Summer season from June to July with 3-8 different enrollment options, depending on a child's age and group placement.

The Novice pre-swim team group bridges the gap between swimming lessons and swim team. Once a child can swim 15 yards (about half the length of the pool), they are ready to enter this group. Once they can swim a full 25 yards of freestyle and kick on their back they can join the 8 & Under division or Age Group division. These are developmental competitive groups where skills and fitness are developed and competitive skills are taught. There are 3 "practice group levels", meaning that there is no ceiling to the skills they can learn season after season.  Everything is devised to flow from one group to the next. Our end goal is to produce athletes that get better year after year rather than trying to cram it all in before they hit middle school.

It’s not too late to dive in to a Summer Swim Team group. Contact Crawfish Aquatics for a group placement evaluation or see more placement details on the website. If you aren't quite ready to take on another sport this summer, consider July swimming lesson sessions that run for two weeks and teach skills all the way through the four competitive strokes, flip turns, and dives. You can join the Crawfish Aquatics Swim Team Fall, Spring or Summer!
