Remembering the Thank You Notes

Showing appreciation for gifts received at a birthday party can be done through thank you notes. It’s important for children to take the time to thank those who attended and for helping them make their birthdays that much more special. Thank you notes can mean a lot to the person receiving them as well. Starting the art of sending thank you notes after birthday parties has potential to become a normal practice for your child throughout his life. Practicing gratitude is proven to add joy and length to your life, so teach your little one to start now.

If you aren’t sure how to start, try a few of these tips.

▶ Work with your son on the thank you notes. Make it a fun activity that you do together after birthdays or holidays.

▶ If your son cannot write yet, allow him to dictate to you what he would like to say. After, let your son add a special touch of his own for instance through drawing a picture.

▶ To make things fun, consider getting your daughter her own stationery just for writing thank you notes. ■
