It’s a rare occasion that I take time out for myself and an even rarer one that I take time out for my friends. I put so much mom guilt on myself for spending time on me instead of my family. And while I’m a work in progress, I recently had the most epic moms’ night out with four friends at Dry Bar in Perkins Rowe.

Dry Bar contacted me and was generous enough to send me a free blow out to try out their location. A few of my girlfriends and I walked into Dry Bar on a Friday night, and we were immediately greeted! “Would you like something to drink?” I like this place already. We had our choice of lots to drink including wine and champagne. I decided on a mimosa. Everyone needs a little vitamin C, and it is flu season after all. We were next introduced to our stylists. We received a menu of hair styles. I chose the “Southern Comfort” style. I wanted big hair with lots of curls. I hear the bigger the hair, the closer to God. What can I say! I’m a child of the 80’s and North Louisiana. Go big or go home. My friends chose different styles with some looser waves.

Next, we were brought to the shampoo room. There were five shampoo bowls, so we all had our massage, I mean shampoo, at the same time. This is where mom guilt would have normally kicked in, but surprisingly it didn’t. Did I really just leave my husband at home with four kids while I was getting a head massage with my friends?  Yes I did, and I was loving every minute of it. Our stylists wrapped our hair up in some fancy turban- like towels, and we were off to get our blow dry on! I’m not exactly sure how they wrapped our hair so fancy, but they did!

We were able to visit and sip our drinks during our blow dry and styles. What a luxury to have someone else dry and style your hair! It was really the closest thing to being a celebrity without actually being a celebrity. All of our stylists were friendly and did a great job. The products they used on our hair all had clever names except for one called Hot Toddy. I felt this was a little too close to Hotty Toddy (Ole Miss) in LSU land, so I refused this product. I do bleed purple and gold.  

Dry Bar only does blow outs. No make-up, no highlights (thanks to Nicole Millet Salon for mine), no nails, etc. My impression was that it was a fun luxurious experience and the price is right at $40 a blow out. My hair style lasted a few days and my friends lasted closer to a week. I plan to go back to Dry Bar and would highly recommend them to all of my mommy friends. It would be perfect for a mother-daughter date, night out with the hubby, or even a great night with friends.
