The first leg of the Zoo’s master plan to modernize and renovate its exhibits is well underway and ready for the public to view! Sapo Springs is the newest exhibit at the Baton Rouge Zoo and is meant to give visitors a taste of West Africa by showcasing animals in their natural habitats. This means being treated to an underwater viewing of their pygmy hippos who spend much of their time in the water, Colobus monkeys swinging in trees, and even an aviary that showcases a variety of endangered African birds.
