If you haven’t already seen his viral TikTok about his rolling cart strategy, Principal Jared Lamb has been spending his days rolling down the hallways of BASIS Baton Rouge Materra Charter School instead of in a traditional office. This strategy enables him to acknowledge and celebrate his staff and prioritize his students. It allows him to see classrooms firsthand and give 2,000-4,000 high fives per day. Lamb said his advice to other principals interested in implementing this strategy would be to “have a calendar and schedule for when you’re going to have additional meetings, follow up on your emails, and meet with parents. It’s about being strategic with where you’re allocating that stuff in your schedule.”
