The 9th Annual Shield of Hope Gala

Join The Salvation Army of Greater Baton Rouge for a night of fun with The Chase Tyler Band and Julio Melara for the 9th annual Shield of Hope Gala on May 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the L'Auberge Casino and Hotel Events Center.

The Salvation Army Shield of Hope Gala will open its doors to a silent auction with great items like vacations, antiques, LSU sports memorabilia, and more. The Auction will be accompanied by live music, followed by a three-course steak dinner. Throughout the night, The Salvation Army will share the story of what is going on in our local community, and Julio Melara will share an encouraging faith-driven message.

The Salvation Army Shield of Hope dinner is one of the largest fundraising events of the year for the local Baton Rouge Salvation Army. Through the event, crucial funds will be raised for the Pathway of Hope program and the men’s drug and alcohol recovery center. Every dollar raised for the event will benefit our neighbors in need who are caught in a neverending cycle of intergenerational poverty and men who are escaping the grips of addiction. These funds will give hope to the mother of five who is working full time while also going to school to make a better future for her children. They are also for the father, son, or husband who sees the light at the end of a long road of addiction and is recovering to be a better person for himself, his family, and for God.

Tickets are $200, and they can be purchased by calling (225) 367-6904.

in A Note from Mom

School is out, and now, the fun begins. Well, maybe it’s not so much fun for me, as I feel like I just became a glorified Uber driver for my kids. However, it’s officially the start of summer camps, pool parties, sleepovers, beach trips, and any othe
