2024 Faces of Greater Baton Rouge

2024 The Face of Behavioral and Developmental Pediatrics

Compass Neurodevelopment Center

Neurodevelopmental disorders include a range of neurological impairments including Autism, Intellectual Disability, Learning Disorders, ADHD, concerns related to prematurity and developmental delays. They are estimated to impact 15% of children, which means approximately 150,000 Louisiana children may have a neurodevelopmental disorder. Formal evaluations are often needed for diagnosis and treatment, and there are few centers that offer such services.

Compass Neurodevelopment Center was created to meet this need. Though the name may be new, the team behind it has years of experience with neurodevelopmental disorders. The Center is led by Developmental Pediatrician, Steven Felix, MD, and Pediatric Neuropsychologist Traci W. Olivier, PsyD.

Dr. Felix has been in practice in Baton Rouge for the past 13 years but began in pediatrics over 35 years ago. He has specialized in Developmental Pediatrics for 28 years. Dr. Felix is known for developing and growing developmental clinics throughout the United States. As the only Board-Certified Developmental Pediatrician in the Baton Rouge area, and one of few in the state, he works with schools, physicians, and other professionals to provide the highest level of care for children with special needs. Dr. Olivier is a fellowship-trained Pediatric Neuropsychologist who is also one of the few in the state. Drs. Felix and Olivier are joined by pediatric nurse practitioner Emily McMann, to offer initial evaluations and diagnosis; treatment plans; follow-up; and limited medication management.

This unique team, with their long-standing vision of establishing a neurodevelopmental center to serve children’s medical, educational, and psychological needs, is second to none in the region. Services will soon expand to include an interdisciplinary Autism assessment clinic, adult transition clinic and follow-up clinic for high-risk infants.

We are pleased to introduce the Baton Rouge and surrounding communities to Compass Neurodevelopment Center, a place where your child will receive outstanding special needs care. Call (225) 926-7500 to make an appointment, or visit www.compassneurodevelopment.com for more information.
