CareSouth

CareSouth is a private, non-profit, community-based health care provider with a mission to deliver comprehensive, affordable, high-quality healthcare services with compassion and respect for all. They are a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and provide a comprehensive range of medical, dental, and behavioral health services to meet the diverse needs of their patients. CareSouth operates clinics in Baton Rouge, Donaldsonville, Plaquemine, Shreveport and Zachary, Louisiana and is guided by a consumer-majority volunteer Board of Directors.

CareSouth’s medical services encompass a broad spectrum of primary care and specialized medical care:

● Address the healthcare needs of adults, including routine checkups, chronic disease management, physicals, and preventive and wellness care.
● Address the healthcare needs of children, including routine checkups, vaccinations, physicals, and preventive and wellness care.
● Perform a wide range of laboratory tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
● Help patients navigate financial assistance options to ensure access to necessary healthcare services.
● Provide diagnosis, treatment, and management for hepatitis C infection.
● Provide diagnosis, treatment, and management for HIV. Offers HIV counseling and testing services to promote awareness and early detection.
● Address mental health concerns and providing psychiatric evaluations and treatment plans.
● Address health issues unique to women, such as menstruation, pregnancy, and cervical and breast cancer screenings.
● Specialty Services: Including urology, podiatry, and gastroenterology.

CareSouth’s dental services cater to patients of all ages, promoting oral health and offering a range of treatments:
● Providing routine dental care, including checkups, cleanings, and preventive services.
● Emphasizing regular dental hygiene practices to prevent oral health problems.
● Repairing damaged teeth through fillings, crowns, and other restorative procedures.

CareSouth participates in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, delivering nutrition education, counseling, and supplemental food assistance to eligible pregnant women, new mothers, and young children.
